Awakening in the middle of the night to a psychic cry of help from his twin, Karis persuades a reluctant Malin (his cousin) to accompany him on a three week’s journey to Mythro. If they are successful at freeing the royal prisoners, they will make the return trip south to Godsel, in inclement weather, with an ill king, the queen, a small child, and a fully mounted pursuit behind them.
