This book is essentially about the ectoparasite fauna of veterinary importance and is divided into three volumes. Volume 1 deals with endo and ectoparasitic mite fauna of domestic and wild animals that belongs in the superorder ACARIFORMES (Trombidiformes and Sarcoptiformes), and it includes techniques for preparing acarological material for taxonomic and molecular studies. Volume 2 covers the parasitic acarid fauna of domestic and wild animals that belongs to the superorder PARASITIFORMES (Mesostigmata and Ixodida), and it includes the biotechnological advances and methods for preparing material for taxonomic and molecular studies. Volume 3 deals with parasitic ENTOMOFAUNA of veterinary importance, encompassing the majority of insect families, and it includes a set of insect preparation techniques for taxonomic and molecular studies. This book forms almost complete documentation of the ectoparasites of domestic and wild animals, with up-to-date lists of the parasite species of veterinary importance that main occur in Brazil. The chapters are illustrated so as to include the majority of the taxa that make up the ectoparasite fauna of vertebrates and invertebrates in the different Brazilian biomes.
