The theme of this book is the methooology of various social science disciplines used by Soviet social scientists. These disciplines are area-studies and international relations, economics geography, history, philosophy, political science, and sociology. Twelve select articles from contemporary Soviet academic journals and research publications, translated from Russ.an and edited in English are included in the book The state of social sciences in the Soviet Union still remains an enigma in this country. Our colonial legacy, and above all, the language barrier have contributed to this. During the last two decades or so, Soviet social scientists have begun to employ fairly sophisticated methodological techniques and approaches that can be favourably compared with others. This book is the first venture of its kind in this country seek-mg to remove the lacunae in our academic universe and it is hoped that this will be welcomed by our academic community.
