The papers in this volume, presented at two workshops Reluctant Partners Coming Together, and Interface Between Government, NGOs and the People jointly organised by the GTZ/SHF, Bangalore; Inter-Cooperation CSDCD, Hyderabad; and Development Support Initiative (NOVIB) and the ISEC, Bangalore, identify and analyse the type of interface between government, NGOs and people, based on evidence from nine NGOs from South India. Analysing the potential and problems in establishing institutional framework, the contributors present experiences of NGOs providing details of their organisation, objectives, developmental activities, number of villages covered and the number of groups formed.
