Nessa's home-world, Akron, is in crisis. Trade was cut off. There are food shortages. Nessa is selected to establish trade elsewhere. They select Earth; humans have tried to contact them many times. It must be friendly, but Nessa ends up trapped in a holding container in Area 51. There, Jamison, the son of one of the agents, finds her after he breaks into Area 51. She finds out that he is not a normal boy; he is the last surviving member of Akron's elder race.
