." About the Author Stan M. attended his first AA meeting in 1983. A sponsor - “Patch Alex” - told him of the ‘Charlie and Joe’ tapes, which set in motion a deeper study of the Twelve Steps. A dozen years later, after reading C.S. Lewis’s ‘The Screwtape Letters,’ Stan wondered about the narrative the devil sitting on his own shoulder was conjuring up.
