Many books have been written on Advaita Vedanta (AV) and its connection to science. Spirituality can be of three types: 1) faith based, 2) mysticism based, or 3) reason and evidence based. Advaita Vedanta takes the path of evidence based logic. Its reasoning avoids the philosophical traps of category errors and circular logic. Theoretical models of reality developed over the last fifty years in quantum mechanics and cosmology point to enigmatic connections between consciousness, information, matter and gravity. The three dimensional universe with its galaxies, stars, and sentient beings could be a projection of quantum information stored as “qubits” on a far-distant two-dimensional horizon. All of the information about the contents of our universe is stored as 0s and 1s on this horizon. The universe is capable of storing information about us humans, even after we are gone. We know that matter and energy is intra-convertible, and energy is conserved. Information is indestructible, and is therefore conserved. Consciousness and information are inextricably linked. Based on the teachings of AV and physics, we extend the attribute of indestructibility to consciousness as well. This book explains the “inner” physics of Advaita Vedanta to physicists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, and cosmologists.
